Major Engine and Transmission
There are two different philosophies of
how to keep the costs of automobile transportation reasonable, or at least somewhat
reasonable. One philosophy says buy a new car every three to five years to avoid any
serious maintenance costs and the other says keep the older car running and avoid high
depreciation costs, personal property costs and avoid comprehensive and collision
insurance costs. Both philosophies are valid approaches to keeping overall transportation
costs down and each owner has to decide which philosophy to follow.
If you follow the second philosophy
which avoids high depreciation, high personal property costs (at least until Virginia's
property tax changes take effect), and high collision and comprehensive insurance costs,
you are more likely to someday need major engine and or transmission work. This is
especially true if you don't keep up with critical fluids replacement
and preventative maintenance. When you need those major
engine or transmission repairs or a second opinion about whether or not you really need
them (sometimes you don't) come to us.
We often have better deals and options
on various brands of quality rebuilt engines and transmissions than factory dealers, and
we don't have to finance the total cost of operating a new-car dealership from maintenance
alone (how do those dealers survive on $100 over invoice deals?)--we have to only finance
the cost of operating a maintenance shop on the maintenance service we provide.
If your automobile has serious engine
or transmission problems (or someone claims you do) come to us. We have everything
to gain by keeping your car running and keeping you happy. However, if your car
really needs more maintenance than it's worth, we'll ask you if you really want to put
that much money into it. In the end what we really want is you to be happy, or at
least not too miserable. Bradham has prospered for over 50 years and two generations
of family ownership because of its return customer business.
